&& THE PLOT
Dear reader,
“Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? “No", says the man in Washington, "It belongs to the poor." "No" says the man in the Vatican, "It belongs to god." "No" says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to everyone." I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... RAPTURE. The city where the artist would not fear the sensor. Where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality. Where the great would not be constrained by the small. And with the sweat of your brow…Rapture can become your city as well. My name is Andrew Ryan. Who am I you may ask? Well I am the one who is tired of the parasites restricting everything I do. I am the one who would take it no longer and decided to leave this corrupted world. Instead, I decided to make my own city, my own rules, and of course my own choices. Choices that the parasites cannot alter. Choices that make the man I am today. And finally, choices that led to me writing to you at this moment. Congratulations my friend! You have been invited to the marvelous city of Rapture. Where is this place you ask? Well at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean of course! With my own hands I have built this city and with my own hands I will tear it down brick by brick before the parasites get their hands on it.”
Aside from that Andrew Ryan introduction, now to discuss the plot of the site. It is the same plot during the first Bioshock game but characters from the second one are still permitted. If you are new to the Bioshock world, the site takes place in the year 1960 in a city called Rapture that is at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Andrew Ryan, the creator of the city, believed that every person was only entitled to what they owned and what they made or developed. So he took the “best and the brightest” of the world and brought them into Rapture. All was going well with Rapture: economic and political stability. Then Brigid Tenenbaum, a scientist, developed a thing called ADAM. ADAM could repair cells and rearrange DNA to give super human powers called plasmids (Incinerate, electrobolt, insect swarm, etc). Civil war began to break out and then ADAM turned into an addictive substance, and pretty much Rapture went to hell. This civil war was between Andrew Ryan (the creator of the city who believed that everyone had a choice) and Frank Fontaine (Ryan's opposite who ran an illegal smuggling business that threatened the location of Rapture to the outside world).
Little sisters are little girls who gather the ADAM and become demonic in doing so (yellow eyes, grayish skin). They are protected by Big Daddy’s, a man in a diving suit that are hotwired to protect them.
We have also introduced a new strand of characters and they are called secret guardians. If you do not want to be human but do not want to be a Big Daddy, you can be something in between; a secret guardian. They are humans that are agile, protective, and tough to kill. So if you see a little sister roaming around alone then you ought to think twice before trying to get some ADAM from them.
And now for another Andrew Ryan excerpt that I created:
“Now whose side are you on? The parasites that have destroyed my city or the man that brought all of you down here for the greater good of the world? The parasites who limit ones ambitions and cause destruction when they do not have control over what they want or the man that gave you all a new life, a happy life, a BETTER life? The parasites will never understand that if they destroy me I will live on in the city that I have created. Every brick, every building, every air particle ‘I’ have made and when children pass by they will ask to their parents ‘Who made that? Who made that?’ And they will answer “Well, Andrew Ryan of course. He made all of this”. And when I have exterminated the bug that Atlas is, there will be nothing to remember him by except for the body hanged up on my wall. And anyone else who opposes me will encounter the same fate. Now…make your choice."
